The Department Of Defense has issued a contract to a Notable Solutions, Inc (NSi) partner to start work on developing and implementing their NSi’s AutoStore™ technology to support enterprise capture capabilities for the DOD. This technology uses the Healthcare Artifact and Image Management Solution (HAIMS) project.

With the goal of helping Active Duty and Retired military personnel and their dependents. It will integrate medical images into the electronic health records and will have the capacity to share information with health care providers through a system called Theater.

There will be a two year period of testing and integration of the AutoStore. It will initially be available for 6,000 healthcare personnel, and eventually be spread to 60,000. Because of the complicated nature of the IT systems, and the amount of data and military personnel, the DOD wanted to find a solution that could do the job as efficiently as possible.

This contract could lead the way to a more efficient way of handling, sharing and storing medical information. After the recent TRICARE data theft and pending lawsuit, the Department Of Defense seems to be working towards a future where this incident will be less likely to occur.
