Fewer Activated Reservists This Week Than Last – Possible Trend To Cut Costs To The Military

Many reservist are being take off of activated status this week due to normal procedures and possible financial reasons. There can be any number of activated reservists at anytime, within each military branch. Activated reservists have the opportunity to receive benefits and pay similar to Active Duty military members. This is often a desirable position because of the potential increase in pay.

Congress has been going through the current Military budget to discover what programs, projects, or personnel, can be cut in an attempt to save the Federal Government money over the next 10 years. Billions of dollars in cuts have been on the table, with no clear decision in sight.

There are currently a total of 112 fewer activated reservists. The current amount of reserve personal activated in each branch is: Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 70,362; Navy Reserve, 4,600; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 10,839; Marine Corps Reserve, 5,706, and the Coast Guard Reserve, 779.

As of his week, there are 92,286 reservists who are activated to fill roles and provide support to various stations, boats, and units nationally and internationally.
